Un altro bambino morto. La madre lo ha lasciato a scuola ma a scuola non è mai entrato. Cosa sarà successo? Speriamo lo scoprano gli inquirenti, ma è un fatto che questo cucciolo col suo zainetto di Toy Story se ne è andato incontro ad una triste avventura, purtroppo per lui fatale e senza il lieto fine del noto cartoon di Disney. In questo mondo brutale e vile, dove i mostri hanno il volto della vicina di casa o dello zio di famiglia, non c’è spazio per l’onestà pura di Woody né per l’avventuroso coraggio di Buzz Lightyear che infatti non sono arrivati in tempo ad aiutare quel piccolo fanciullo, chissà come convinto a prendere la strada della sua morte invece che quella della sua classe.
Cosa possiamo fare perché tragedie così non tornino mai più? Potremmo per esempio estendere obbligatoriamente a tutti il servizio di segnalazione automatica delle presenze, per tutti i minori in istruzione. La tecnologia esiste, ci sono i rilevamenti elettronici delle presenze e non c’è genitore, per disperato e disoccupato che sia, che non abbia un cellulare in grado di ricevere un sms. Si tratta di un’esigenza nazionale importante, sempre che il Ministero sia disposto a riconoscere alle scuole l’autonomia decisionale per acquistare i servizi di connessione con quei finanziamenti che consentono di comprare solo computer e lavagne multimediali. Un’assurdità, questo vincolo, che rende le scuole simili a quella pubblicità che ammoniva: potevamo stupirvi con effetti speciali… E come non pensare alla inutilità degli effetti speciali quando si riempie la scuola di LIM che poi non possono collegarsi alla rete per mancanza di router adeguati e dedicati solo alle aule. Il registro elettronico è già una realtà e già esiste la funzione di inoltro automatico dell’informazione relativa alla presenza a scuola degli studenti. Se nell’istituto di Santa Croce Camerina avessero avuto questo servizio, le ricerche del piccolo cucciolo con lo zainetto di Toy Story sarebbero iniziate alle 8.30. Dal cielo sarebbe arrivato, cadendo con stile, il temerario Buzz Lightyear e da terra, a dargli conforto, sarebbe giunto anche il retto Woody che con un sorriso lo avrebbe ricondotto a casa, sorridendo dello scampato pericolo. Ma la vita, nel mondo che abbiamo costruito, non è un cartoon. Purtroppo.

This is an important national need, provided that the Ministry is willing to recognize the decision-making autonomy of schools to purchase connection services with those funds that only allow the purchase of computers and multimedia boards. This constraint is absurd, making schools similar to that advertisement that warned, “We could amaze you with special effects…” And how can we not think about the uselessness of special effects when we fill the school with LIMs that cannot connect to the network due to a lack of suitable routers dedicated only to classrooms?
